A Home on the Range for 135 Years: 1885-2020

Gann Valley, county seat of Buffalo County, is a small community nestled among the rolling plains of central  South Dakota.  Agriculture, in particular the raising of livestock and dry land farming, is the basic industry of the area.

Public hunting areas and an ample supply of locally owned lodges provide residents and visitors alike with excellent hunting opportunities.

The Missouri River is located within 15 minutes of Gann Valley. Anglers go after walleye, northern pike, crappie, bass, perch, bluegills, catfish and bullheads.  Lake recreational areas feature camping, picnicking, swimming, boating, and water-skiing.

We invite you to check out our town through this website, or better yet, visit us on Highway 45, three miles south of the Hwy 34/45 Junction!
