Gann Valley, county seat of Buffalo County, is a small community nestled among the rolling plains of central South Dakota. Agriculture, in particular the raising of livestock and dry land farming, is the basic industry of the area.
Public hunting areas and an ample supply of locally owned lodges provide residents and visitors alike with excellent hunting opportunities.
The Missouri River is located within 15 minutes of Gann Valley. Anglers go after walleye, northern pike, crappie, bass, perch, bluegills, catfish and bullheads. Lake recreational areas feature camping, picnicking, swimming, boating, and water-skiing.

Gann Valley's 136-Year Celebration is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 26, 2021. More information will be posted as it becomes available. (The 135th celebration planned for June 2020 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.)
